AN UNUSUAL REGENCY PERIOD SCOTTISH BRACKET CLOCK, circa 1820s, contained in a two piece wall mounted rosewood case with columns flanking the square dial, moulded top, the silvered dial with Roman numerals and blued steel hands, dial signed David Whitelaw Edinburgh, dial diameter 24cm x 24cm, regulator movement with single fusee, large deadbeat escapement with skeleton brass pallet frame, large pendulum showing in curved and glazed aperture bracket below.

95cm high x 42cm wide x 25cm deep

James & David Whitelaw were a very skilled clockmaking family who it appears specialised in longcase clocks.They are known to have worked from both Princes Street and Register Street in Edinburgh.
