A late 18th century Dutch silver teapot, Den Haag (The Hague) 1794 by Francois Marcus Simons (1750-1823)

Of oval form with reeded rims, the spout of part-hexagonal section leading to a tubular section, opposite a wooden C scroll handle pinned to faceted sockets, the flat disc lid with engraved decoration of a band of foliate scrolls, surmounted by a detachable faceted wooden knop finial. The body with fluted decoration. Fully marked underneath, date letter X.

Teapot length – 24.5 cm / 9.75 inches

Weight – 384 grams / 12.35 ozt

A milk jug with similar engraved decoration and a fluted by the same maker and same date was sold these rooms, 2 Dec 2020, lot 162 (£500 including prem)
