A CHOLA-REVIVAL BRONZE PROCESSIONAL STATUE OF GANESHA Southern India, 19th - 20th century, of typical shape, cast with lost-wax technique in the round, set on a squared stepped pedestal, the God Ganesha standing in the centre and holding in his hands a conch shell (Vishnu's attribute), an axe (Shiva's attribute), one of his tusks, with which he's said to have recorded the Mahabharata, and a laddu, a rounded Indian sweet, 44.5cm x 20cm.
