A fine series depicting a group of Shepherds in an arcadian landscape with a town and moutain in the background. A set of 6 copper engraved card-backed, cut away sheets combining to create an early peep show, [105×142 mm] with original hand-colouring;
The cut aways depict; [1] classical architectural ruins in a landscape opening this arcadian scene;[2] trees on both sides and a couple of shepherds on the right pointing into the main scene; [3] on each side of the sheet dens trees, architectural ruins and a man in elegant clothes; [4] in the centre of a landscape with trees and rocks, three sheperds are talking. On the right, a small building in the shape of a tower; [5] the point of view here is wider, showing the bucolic landscape with trees and sheep; [6] in the background a pathways leads to a town on the slopes of a mountain.
