An Alexander II mid-19th century Russian 84 zolotnik silver gilt ecclesiastical paten, Moscow circa 1860 by Andrei Wilhelm Vekman (active 1860-84)
Of circular form with a dished centre raised upon a detachable spreading and stepped circular foot. The top with engraved ecclesiastical decoration of the infant Christ within a heavenly manger flanked by two angels, all surmounted by the dove (holy ghost). The edge engraved with Cyrillic text and the orthodox cross. Marked underneath to foot only with 84 and maker’s mark A.B (Postnikova 2156).
