PROPERTY FROM A GERMAN PRIVATE COLLECTION
India, 19th century

Comprising four brass lotas each of bulbous shape, two resting on a flattened base, two on a flared foot, all featuring punched bands of geometric designs, one with a central band to the body with devotional figures set within niches, the largest 34.3cm circumference and 11cm high; the smallest of the group cast brass, of compressed globular shape, resting on short flared food and with a reinforced rim, the body plain, 13cm circumference and 4cm high; the largest lota also of compressed globular shape, resting on a flared and domed foot with a reinforced rim, rising to a straight neck also with a reinforced rim, the body plain except for two rings, 59.8cm circumference and 13.5cm high.
