Qajar Iran, 19th century, signed Aliquli Jabbadar and later dated 1028 AH (1618/1619)

Opaque pigments, ink, pencil and white wash on paper, the vertical portrait depicting a disgruntled or preoccupied gentleman with his horse and falcon, wearing a long green coat with floral patterns and a black Astrakhan fur hat, on the lower left a cusped cartouche bearing the signature Aliquli Jabbadar and the date 1028 AH (1618/1619), a likely later addition, set within concentric album page decorative borders with floral scrollwork on turquoise and pink grounds, at the top of the pink album border a cusped arabesque-like cartouche repeating the attribution to Aliquli Jabbadar, mounted, glazed and framed, 52cm x 41cm including the frame.
