An early 20th century Anglo – Indian unmarked silver footed bowl, probably Poona circa 1910
Raj period. Of rounded circular form upon a domed pedestal foot, with a scalloped rim. The body with embossed decoration of swami pattern style figures within shaped vignettes, interspersed with foliage, the base and rim section similarly decorated.
Diameter – 22.0 cm / 8.66 cm
Height – 18.3 cm / 7.20 inches
Weight – 1013 grams / 32.57 ozt
The attribution to Poona is based on presently unpublished research, which singles out bowls using a band of generic Swami pattern in shaped vignettes, as opposed to the more typical Madras, or even Bombay and Bangalore.
