PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT EUROPEAN PRIVATE COLLECTION
Iran, 13th - 14th century
Of fragmentary rectangular shape, once a frieze tile, moulded and underglaze painted in cobalt blue, turquoise and copper lustre, depicting a lion attacking a bull against a vegetal background, 29.2cm x 19.4cm at widest points.
A tile with a comparable scene is part of the Victoria and Albert Museum collection, London (acc. no. 543–1900).
