The Progress of Kay: A series of glimpses, First edition, the author’s first work, with 2pp. ALS to his aunt during WW1: “There is not often much excitement at this distance from the line + in any case I should not be allowed to speak about occurrences of any military significance [...] There is hardly any autobiography in the book… Lionel in the very early part is something like what I remember Claude to have been, but later on the likeness vanishes entirely [...] Another instance is Kay’s aunt… I remember playing croquet with you… + yet the Aunt at Pegton is not you [...] I shall be glad to get back to civilian life”, tipped-in to front free endpaper, some spotting, offsetting to endpapers and portion of letter, publisher’s cloth gilt, rubbed, fading to spine, Constable & Co., 1916;
