A late 19th / early 20th century Chinese export silver footed bowl, Canton circa 1900, marked Sui Chang, retailed by Wang Hing
Qing dynasty. Of shaped oval dished form upon a spreading shaped oval foot. The body with pierced and embossed panels of chrysanthemums, bamboo, and flowering prunus, all below a border of trailing Chinese dragons with a vacant cartouche formed as a flaming sacred pearl each side. The foot similarly pierced with alternating panels. The centre of the dish engraved with contemporaneous initials HMT in gothic script cypher. Marked underneath with artisan mark 遂昌 (SUI CHANG), numeral 90, and retailer’s mark WH.

Sui Chang
The Canton based workshop of Sui Chang is noted for large high-quality wares, particularly with finely pierced decoration such as trays and dragon footed bowls. As a retailer Wang Hing operated longer in Canton than in Hong Kong.
