Macmillan (Harold)
A group of six typed letter signed ('Harold Macmillan') to Miss Enid Cubitt, the first two printed form letters thanking Cubitt for her assistance in the recent election campaigns ("We know very well that without the help of a loyal band of workers, a candidate can achieve very little", march 1950); "Without such devoted assistance a candidate can achieve very little. We have had a wonderful and happy team", 9 November 1951) and the remaining four all thanking Cubitt and the Bickley Branch for their Christmas cards, all one page, 8vo, Birch Grove, Haywards Heath, Sussex, March 1950 - January 1978; also included are: three unsigned official Christmas cards sent by Harold and Dorothy Macmillan, one from 10 Downing Street; a memorial service programme for Dorothy Macmillan, 23rd June 1966; an autograph letter to Enid from Arthur Hazlerigg, saying in part "The Prime Minister's letter telling me of his intention to recommend me for a Barony came as a tremendous surprise: and I value it very highly from a man like Winston Churchill to whom we all owe so great a debt of gratitude", two pages, 3 June 1945; three Christmas cards from other politicians and a typed message signed by Stella Reading, v.s.
