Michelangelo Cerquozzi (1602–1660) an Italian Baroque painter known for his vivid genre scenes, battle pieces, and still lifes. Born in Rome, he became one of the prominent painters of the Bamboccianti, a group of artists who depicted everyday life with a realistic and often humorous approach.
The Bamboccianti works included humorous, ironic, or satirical elements, often poking fun at human follies or highlighting the contrast between different social classes.
