WWII Interest- D-Day

Two log-books formerly belonging to R.A.F. Acting Wing Commander Robin Peter Reginald Powell (1916-1970) covering years from 1943 to 1954 and from 1955 to 1960. In the first log-book are listed the reconnaissance flight aboard Spitfire and Proctor aircrafts, a few with “practice bombing” listed as duty; the log-book also provides a first-hand account from D-Day landing, with the 6^th of June 1944 marked as “D-day Invasion of Europe” (“Omaha Patrol. 1^st Light. Lots of Ships. Lots of Flak. No e/a seen”; “Omaha Patrol Last light. Interesting but uneventful. Omaha not appearing to be going too well. Attack developed at 23.15. too dark to see anything except Flak. Most uncomfortable”); for the following days Powell reports of flights over Omaha beach, Utah beach and Gold beach, mentioning the “filthy weather”, a “wireless failure” and “lots of (friendly!) flak”; on 10th October Powell was injured in an accident and resumed his service in February 1945; from 1955 he flew mostly Meteor aircrafts; some age-related yellowing, both log-books in original blue cloth, light wear to edges and spine extremities, 4to; also included in the lot is a replica of the Distinguished Flying Cross, a 1939-1945 Star (bar not original), Air Crew Europe (France and Germany), Air Crew North Africa 1942-43 and War Medal 1939-1945, with miniature medals of the same.
