A late 19th century unmarked silver and niello Quran box / case (Ta'wiz/Muska), possibly Iraqi, Mosul circa 1890
Of rectangular form with rounded corners, a sliding top. One side with a nielloed oval cartouche with the Ottoman Turkish coat of arms below a Tughra, reserved with foliate sprays, the obverse with a scene of a mosque reserved with arabesques and rosettes. The edges with nielloed foliate pattern.
