George Clarkson Stanfield (1828–1878) born in London, into a family of artists; his father was the celebrated marine painter Clarkson Stanfield.

Following in his father's footsteps. He studied at the Royal Academy Schools and exhibited his works regularly at the Royal Academy of Arts in London.

Stanfield became known for his skillful portrayal of coastal landscapes, seascapes, and maritime scenes. He often depicted scenes of ships at sea, coastal towns, and bustling harbors, capturing the atmosphere and light
