14/05/2015 Chiswick Curates
Next week, on Tuesday 19th May at 12 noon, we are holding a sale of
Stamps, Coins and Banknotes followed by the General sale.
Always a popular and fascinating sale, this week is no exception. Two lots stand out particularly:
Lot 56 - A Victorian die proof stamp trial for one Penny Blue on un-watermarked paper, bottom corners left.
Estimate: £700 - £900
Lot 228 - A very fine collection of banknotes relating to the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the era of the Shah, contained in two albums. They include Bank Melli Iran, 1330 1951 4th series 10 to 200 Rials, some duplicates all UNC. The albums contain most series with many high catalogue values, too many to note, various coloured overprints and values, most in mint condition.
Estimate: £5,000 - £6,000
You can view the whole sale in more detail in the online catalogue.
And don't forget the General sale is always full of interesting lots as well.
On Tuesday this week the sale of Rugs contained a record number of lots and achieved a very high 'sold' rate. This follows a general trend of more and more people coming to the auction for individual and cost-effective furnishings for their homes.
We accept consignments up to 3 weeks before each Specialist sale,
and every week for our General sales.
Check the sale calendar for more details.
