There will be a slightly different auction schedule this week.
We will be hosting a General sale on Tuesday 26th April and a sale of Books of India and The East on Wednesday 27th April. 


The General sale starts at 11am on the Tuesday and includes the usual eclectic selection of wonderful items from collectibles to furniture, porcelain, silver and decorative pieces, all offering a wealth of ways to add individual flair to your home, office and garden. The Books of India and The East sale starts at 1pm on the Wednesday. It features a substantial private collection of books, pamphlets and ephemera about India, the Indian subcontinent, Japan and Asia. With other sections on travel, Edinburgh, bookbinding, music, biographies and photographs including an interesting late 20th Century archive of India. To be sold in the main without reserve, many in large lots.

Lot 1 is of particular interest. Dorn, Frank. A Map and History of Peking. The Peiyang Press Ltd 1936. A highly visual map of Peking with amusing vignettes of the life and sights of Peking. The map shows the principal sites and occupations of the inhabitants, within a border giving pictographic introduction to Chinese history from 1100B.C to 1927. The map is crowded with amusing vignettes of the life and sights of Peking ranging from the Forbidden City and the Old Execution Ground through to Pigeon Thieves, the Eunuchs’ Cemetery, the Dog Temple, the Temple of Eighteen Hells and the Spider Pagoda.  Estimate: £1,500 - £2,000
