Old Masters & 19th Century encompasses a rich variety of artistic movements and artists including Renaissance, Mannerism, Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassicism and Romanticism. The works explore a variety of genres, such as portraiture, still life, historical and religious subjects, classical mythology. Each sale includes works in different mediums, ranging from oils, drawings, watercolours, to engravings and etchings.
Notable successes include paintings and works on paper by Sébastien Bourdon, Albrecht Dürer, John Constable, Jan van der Heyden, Rembrandt van Rijn, and many others. Recent key highlights include Nymph and satyr, Marie-Françoise- Constance la Martinière Mayer, sold for £22,500; Portrait sketch of Maria Luisa de Parma, follower of Francisco José de Goya Y Lucientes, sold for £20,000; and Christ at the column, circle of Sebastiano del Piombo, sold for £10,000.
