PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT EUROPEAN PRIVATE COLLECTION
Iran, 17th century

Comprising two bottles of compressed globular shape, each resting on a short straight foot, with ringed shoulders narrowing to a straight neck and flared rim, the larger bottle painted in yellow and red copper lustre, with an intertwined palmette design to the body and chevron and crosshatched bands to the shoulders and neck, the inside of the rim decorated with a second chevron band, all on a white ground, the foot and underside unglazed and with an inventory sticker, 12.3cm high; and the smaller bottle with two bands of vegetal trellis to the body and shoulders, a solid band to the neck and a band of linked loops to the inside of the rim, all on a white ground, 10cm high.
