TWO CHRISTIAN CROSSES AND A BRASS TRAVEL ICON
Russia and Greece, late 19th - early 20th century

Comprising a Russian cross cast in yellow brass with remains of champlevé blue enamel, depicting the Crucifixion of Christ, two angels and God at the top of the cross, engraved with the inscriptions IC HC in bold on the ends of the arms, and with a long inscription all around it, a memento mori at the bottom, mounted and framed, 19.3cm x 10cm the cross; a miniature wooden cross, deeply engraved on both sides with the crucial Christian scenes of the Baptism and the Crucifixion of Christ, Christian memorabilia typical of the Mount Athos region in Greece; and a small Russian travel icon triptych cast in yellow brass, with a cusped arch at the top and residues of champlevé blue and white enamels, depicting five episodes from the life of Christ on one side and a representation of the Arma Christi on the other, mounted and framed, 17.5cm x 9cm the icon.
