TAXIDERMY: 'MAN-FACED STOAT' (MUSTELA SAPIENS)

TAXIDERMY: 'MAN-FACED STOAT' (MUSTELA SAPIENS)

full mount mounted to oval base.

History - this species is believed to be the result of an escaped pet marmoset monkey having it’s wicked way with a wild stoat in the 1920s. A hundred years on, several small pocketed populations persist in areas of Epping Forest and woodlands of Essex. However, numbers are dwindling due to females finding males too unattractive to mate with.

Their common name originating from the fact their faces resemble a grumpy old man.

A rare opportunity to acquire such a peculiar animal.

Dimensions - base 23cms x 17cms; overall height 15cms

Estimated at £300 - £500
