Autograph Collection.- Theatre Interest A collection of letters and ephemera signed by various stage actors, mostly addressed to Louis Frewer, Secretary of the Oxford Playhouse Guild. Including: a programme of the Theatrical Garden Party in aid of the Oxford Playhouse Appeal, signed by Alec Guinness, Yvonne Mitchell, Val Gielgud, Lionel hale and others; John Betjeman (typed note saying "I would love to help the Playhouse, but unfortunately I shall be in Ireland on March 20th, unless I am dead by then", 8 February 1955), Eric Baker (typed letter reading "The old Playhouse I remember very well. My first remembrance of it is being cast for a homo-sexual sea captain in Dick Whittington, which I played with as much zest as propriety would permit", 14 April 1947)Flora Robson and others, c. 1950s-1970s (quantity) Provenance: Signatures were obtained by Louis Frewer, Honorary Secreatry of the Oxford Playhouse Guild and renowned Oxford autograph collector
