TAXIDERMY/ ENTOMOLOGY: GOLIATH BEETLE(GOLIATH ORIENTALIS) in glazed case, mid 20th century,

one of the largest species of beetle in world, with beautiful black and white spotted patterns to the wing cases. The inscription inside reads ‘Goliath Beetle / Zaire’.

Zaire was the name of a sovereign state in Central Africa between 1971 and 1997, it is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This cased specimen therefore produced in that 26 year period - along with the other cases of similar style in this sale.
