An early 20th century Ceylonese (Sri Lankan) silver coffee pot, possibly Colombo circa 1920
Of compressed circular form upon a domed circular foot, the curved spout formed in two-sections with mythical beast head terminal opposite a carved wood handle pinned to chased scroll sockets. The hinged domed lid surmounted by a detachable circular horn finial. The body with chased decoration of stylised organic forms within foliate scrolls, otherwise with arabesques and foliate scrolls. Marked underneath only with SS.
