An early 20th century Chinese export silver cocktail shaker, Shanghai circa 1930, retailed by Hung Chong

Republic period. Of tapering cylindrical form upon a domed circular foot, the side with a hollow C scroll handle opposite a tubular pouring spout, with a pull out stopper with cork section, with a chain attachment to the body. The top with a waisted circular section lid with cork stopper. The body with embossed decoration of a Chinese dragon chasing the sacred pearl formed as a vacant cartouche, all against a matted ground. Marked to the footrim edge with retailer’s mark HC only.
