AN ANTIQUE SIGNED TABRIZ CARPET, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The sang-de-boeuf field with scrolling arabesques, multicoloured serrated palmettes, rosettes and perching birds around cusped indigo medallion with pendants containing similar design. Light blue arabesque and palmette spandrels. In sang-de-boeuf boredr of scrolling arabesques and delicate angualr floral vine between light beige palmette and arabesque stripes. Outer arrowhead and plain stripes, approx: 438cm. x 282cm. Very nice example for this type with very good colour combination and well drawn design. This carpet has slight localized wear to knot collar in few places, otherwise good pile. Ends with short fringes, very slightly fraying. Selvages original with touches of wear on cord edge in few places. In general this carpet is in very good usable conditon. Very attractive and great furnishing piece. Signature cartouche at one end Marandi.
