A VERY FINE PART SILK TABRIZ CARPET, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The deep indigo field with stylised densly woven herati pattern around beige casped medallion with rows of open panels and small rosettes enclosing sandy-beige similar smaller medallion with ivory smaller centerpiece. Spandrels similar. In an indigo border of stylised turtle-palmettes, rosettes and meandring floral and leafy vine, between multiple floral and barber-pole stripes. Outer plain stripe, approx: 350cm x 252cm. Very good example for this type with very nicely drawn design, bold appearence. This carpet has full pile, soft wool and part silk. Ends and Salvages original. Very fine weave, approx. 8 x 8 knots per sq.cm. Excellent condition throughout. Attractive and excellent furnishing piece.
