An early 20th century Burmese unmarked silver bowl, Rangoon circa 1920
Of circular form with a rounded base. The body with embossed decoration of Ramayana scenes. Depicting scenes from Rama and the Demon Tataka, such as Rama drawing his arrow to slay Tataka, Tataka’s son Maricha and Subahu descending to earth to attack Rama, Maricha assuming the form of a golden deer, Ravana kidnapping Sita in his Pushpaka Viman, all against a ring punched and fish scale ground. The central frieze all below a convex chased foliate band, the base section with stylised band of acanthus leaves. The underside chased with a symbol of a Pyinsarupa.
