An early 19th century Indian colonial silver covered mug, Calcutta circa 1830 by Twentyman and Co (active 1818-20, then 1824-53)

Of tapering cylindrical form with moulded rims, an acanthus capped C scroll handle with a rocaille detail base section. The double domed pull off lid surmounted by a chased foliate finial. The body with chased decoration of rosettes with foliage and rocaille scrolls against a textured ground, a vacant erased shaped scroll cartouche. The lid with a chased band of rosettes and foliage to the lower sections. Marked underneath with T&Co and a lion passant, the lid unmarked.
