A mid-19th century Indian Colonial silver pint mug, Calcutta circa 1860 by Allan and Hayes (first mentioned 1856, dissolved 1867)
Of shaped baluster form upon four cast acanthus scroll feet. The applied double C scroll handle capped with acanthus leaves and beading. The body with repousse lobes interspersed with recesses with chased lattice work pattern, all below embossed flower heads and foliate scrolls reserved with flat chased acanthus leaves and textured sections. The front engraved with initials G.G.C in gothic script within scroll work. Traces of gilding to the interior. Marked underneath ALLAN & HAYES and a crescent tally mark.
