An early 20th century Chinese export silver twin handled cup and cover, Shanghai circa 1930, retailed by Zee Sung
Republic period. Of rounded circular form upon a knopped spreading domed base, the pull off stepped domed lid surmounted by a pyriform finial with cast and applied foliate decoration. The twin handles formed as Chinese grouse upon magnolia branches, the body with chased decoration of a phoenix with peonies, the opposing side with a large vacant shield shape cartouche reserved with two foxes and foliage, all against a textured ground. Marked to the foot only with retailer’s mark ZEESUNGSILVER.
