A NEAR PAIR OF ANTIQUE TABRIZ RUGS, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The shaded rust-red field of each with bold multicoloured herati design. In an indigo border of stylised vase and tree motif between ivory floral panel, arrowhead and plain stripes, approx: 180cm. x 133cm. and 173cm. x 135cm. Classic for this type, nice colours and well drawn design. Each rug has slight localized wear to the top pile in few places. Selvages original with touches of wear on enges. Ends with short fringes, slightly fraying. In general both rugs are in good usable condition. Seldom found type woven in pair. Very good furnishing pieces.
