LONDON INTEREST, 1850s - 1900

A large collection of albumen prints (approx. 90), depicting various London street views, measuring 13 x 20.5cm (smallest) and 22.5 x 29.2cm (largest), many mounted on period card measuring 33 x43cm. Comprising a varied assortment of images of London spanning from the second half of the 19th century to the early 20th century, including prints by Francis Firth & Co, G.W. Wilson and London Stereoscopic &Co., many titled, numbered and inscribed in the negative lower margins. Subjects include views of the River Thames, National Gallery and Trafalgar Square, Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, Embankment, St. James's Park, George Inn Yard. Particularly interesting is an albumen print showing the Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in Trafalgar Square, on the 21st June 1887, published by Frith & Co., image size 19.2 x 29.5cm, mounted on period card, sheet size 25 x 36.5cm, inscribed in the negative lower left margin 'No.11 F.F.&Co. Copyright', titled in ink 'The Queen's Jubilee. Trafalgar Square. June 21st 1877'.
