A pair of matching oblong folios, in white morocco leather boards, with gilt titles 'Italia, 1888' and 'Italia', together containing 112 albumen prints, c.1880s-1890s.
'Italia' includes (64) albumen prints, image size 20.6 x 25cm (smallest) to 20.5 x 27cm (largest) pasted down recto/verso to album pages, some hand-coloured, and titled printed in the lower margins, comprising views of landmarks, as such as San Marco and the Doge's Palace in Venice, San Zeno in Verona, S. Antonio and the 'Certosa' in Padua; together with an interesting group of prints depicting famous ancient Greek and Roman Sculpture in the most famous Italian Museums; The Medici Chapels in Florence by Michelangelo, and other Renaissance's artworks. 'Italia' includes (15) albumen prints, image size 19 x27cm (smallest) to 22 x 29.8cm (largest), pasted down to album pages, titled and numbered in unknown handwriting in ink on card lower margin. Subjects include images of Innsbruck; the New Town Hall, the Isar Gate, and the Maximilianeum, Munich, Germany; and the Cathedral of Trento; among others.
