A late 19th / early 20th century Chinese export silver tea caddy, Shanghai circa 1900, marked Feng Yuan, retailed by Luen Hing

Qing dynasty. Of ovoid form with an everted neck to a pull off domed lid surmounted by a gourd form finial, all upon four chased leaf and rosette bracket feet. The body with embossed and chased decoration of panels of chrysanthemums, two storks among irises, peonies, and a bird watching a spider from bamboo, all within scroll architraves, and below a punched linear border. The lid with four flat chased shou symbols. Marked underneath with artisan mark 馮垣 (FENG YUAN), numeral 90, retailer’s mark LH.
