Opaque pigments and pencil heightened with gold, comprising four portraits of the Maharaja of Jodhpur, Jaswant Singh II, including two full seated portraits almost mirroring each other, certainly copied from a 19th-century black and white photograph of the Maharaja, 24.5cm x 19.5cm; a painted replica of his bust portrait photograph taken in 1875 by an unknown photographer and overpainted by the artist Shivalal, now part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/76375), 28cm x 24.3cm; and another replica of a black and white photograph of the ruler taken by Bourne & Shepherd (active 1864 - 1900s), the original now in the Royal Collection Trust (RCIN 2107595), showcasing the military decoration received by Queen Victoria as Knight Grand Commander of the Order of the Star of India (star and Queen Victoria's profile), 40cm x 30cm.
