A collection of letters signed by prominent British politicians, comprising: Anthony Eden (typed thank-you note, one page, 22 August 1961); Edward Heath (five typed letters, including one responding to good wishes on him succeding Home as party leader "Our purpose is to serve the Nation. We are under no illusion that the path ahead will be smooth -seldom in peace time has our Nation been so beset with difficulties. Some of the choices before us both as a Party and as a country will be harsh. But the Conservative Party is in no mood to baulk the issues", one page, 24 August 1965); David Steel; Philip Snowden (two letters and one signed Treasury card); Richard Temple (letter denying an unspecifed rumor, one page); Sir Francis Napier (letter to General Sir Robert Gardiner, reading "Your letter reached me in the midts of a great distress- the death of our dear son Basil a Lieutenant in the Navy...This must be the cause for your letter being unanswered & your commission unperformed. As soon as I return to England next week, I will enquire whether a grant can be given to your school under the circumstances which you have mentioned", four pages, n.d.); Sir Richard Hill; John Ramsey McCulloch;Thomas Milner Gibson (letter to Mr Fox, saying 2I like the Resolutions very well in the main, and think it is wise to endeavour to carry out your principle as far as practicable by the use of existing machinery,...but if I may offer an opinion, I have doubts as to the 5th Reslution.
