Edge of Manchester, a fine six-shot pepperbox revolver
Circa 1840s, likely John William Edge of Manchester (1830-45)

The fluted barrel with engraved decoration towards muzzle, stamped proof marks towards breech, the rounded steel action profusely engraved with scrolling foliage, bar-hammer and sliding safety catch with conforming engraving, finely chequered walnut stock with vacant oblong cartouche, the reeded butt with further engraved mount, this with hinged cap, signed to sideplate 'EDGE, MANCHESTER', 22cm long
in original fitted mahogany case, the hinged cover with cartouche named for 'Mr. Henry Samson', green baize lined interior fitted with bullet mould, powder flask, and shot.
