A late 19th century Chinese export silver bowl, Canton circa 1890, marked Sheng, retailed by Cum Shing
Qing dynasty. Of rounded circular form with a moulded rim, a tapering collet foot. The body with embossed and pierced decoration of two trailing Chinese dragons amidst clouds, centred upon a circular cartouche as the sacred pearl, engraved with initials EAK in gothic script cypher. Marked to the foot rim with artisan mark 声 (SHENG), and retailer’s mark CS.
