A HERIZ CARPET, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The rust field with various hooked and angular motifs around hooked and stepped indigo medallion with pendants, containing palmette cartouches, enclosing smaller radiating floral panel centerpiece. Wide ivory floral spandrels. In an indigo border of multicoloured palmettes and hooked leafy vine between sandy-yellow and blue floral stripes. Outer chain stripes, approx: 350cm. x 270cm. Classic for this type with very well drawn design and good colour combination. This carpet has localised wear to the pile at one end, otherwise good pile. Selvages original with touches of fraying on wool cord in some places. Ends with fringes, touches of localised slight fraying at one end. In general this carpet is in very good usable condition. Popular type at present market. Very good furnishing piece.
