AN ANTIQUE QASHQAI CARPET, SOUTH-WEST PERSIA

The shadded light rust field with various floral motifs and stylised human figures and birds, around hookes lozenge medallion with bold palmette centerpiece. Shadded deep blue linked and wide floral spandrels with single palmette in each corner in an ivory palmette and angular vine border, between angular motif, barber pole and angular vine stripes, approx. 297cm x 223cm. Very good example for this type with well drawn design and well blended colours. This carpet has slight localised wear down to knot collar in few places, otherwise good pile. One or two small old repairs, very well done. Ends with short fringes. Salvages original. Attractive and very good furnishing piece.
