AN ANTIQUE BALOUCH CARPET, NORTH-EAST PERSIA

The blue field with overall design of large hooked and floral panels surrounded by hooked lozenges and angualr bars. Inner running-dog open stripe. In charcoal-black border of octagon lattice containing S-motifs between angular floral meander, hooked panel, running-dog stripes, approx: 9ft.6in. x 6ft.7in.(289cm. x 201cm.) including kilim. Very good type, Timuri tribe, seldom found in the sales. Design is very well drawn and well balanced colours. This carpet has localized wear showing warps in places. Few small damages on the field and one edge. Selvages slightly fraying. Charcoal-black is slightly corroded. Original striped and embroidered wide kilim at one end. In general this carpet is in fair usable condition. Very good example from Balouch tribe. Despite imperfections this carpet still retains elegance. Unusual size for this type.
