Gill (Madge).- Outsider Art
Postcard drawing by British Spiritualist Abstract Outsider Artist Madge Gill, watercolour, pen, pastel with possibly varnished areas, mounted, framed and glazed, overall size 220 x 340mm, c. 1940s'
***Madge Gill (1882-1961), one of the leading British 'Outsider' artists, created many mediumistic postcard drawings. As with all her work, the postcard drawings were influenced by her spirit guide Myrninerest who Madge considered to be the true owner of her work. This was the reason why she did not part with hardly any of her work while she was alive, as in her mind they were not hers to sell.
