A group of 8 albumen prints, image size 13.5 x9.5cm (smallest) to 26.5 x20.5cm (largest), of which 7 are hand-tinted, featuring portraits of Japanese women and men. Subjects include two prints portraying Japanese men seen from the back, with traditional Irezumi tattoos; a studio portrait of a young woman as a Geisha, and a boy wearing Samurai armour, stamped verso; a group of women in traditional clothes cooking and sharing a meal; a full-length portrait of a girl in a traditional green and pink kimono, holding a Shamisen, numbered in the negative, pasted down onto album page; with another print of verso depicting two Buddhist monks; and a monochrimatic albumen print, image size 13.5 x9.5cm, portraiting a Buddhist monk wearing a ceremonial kesa stole.
