Opaque pigments and gold on paper, the oval portrait depicting a Mughal Emperor, possibly Aurangzeb (r. 1658 - 1707), with a golden halo, a large aigrette with three black feather and pearl terminals, seated on a palatial terrace against a dark blue bolster, set within painted ochre and dark green borders, the recto with an inscription in black ink nasta'liq reading Farrukh Seyr, 19cm x 14cm.
