A George III sterling silver sauce tureen, London 1799 by Paul Storr (1771-1844, first reg. 12th Jan 1793)

Of navette form, with reeded twin angular handles, raised upon an oval pedestal foot with reeded border, the removable lid of conforming shape with domed centre surmounted by an acanthus and reeded loop handle, also cut with ladle aperture. The body engraved with a coat of arms and the lid with a crest of a lion’s gamb holding a cross pattée fitchée. Fully marked to foot rim and part-marked to lid flange, the lid and base with a single alignment dot.
