A pair of George III sterling silver sauceboats, London 1776 by John Wakelin & William Taylor (reg. 25 Sep 1776)

Each of oval form with gadrooned rim and reeded loop handles. Each raised on an oval pedestal base with gadrooned edge. Engraved with a crest of a demi-eagle displayed, with motto above ASPIRO. Each fully marked underneath, also with later French control mark to rims, one with scratch weight No 3 14:11 and the other No 4 14 :9. (2)

Length – 20.6 cm / 8.1 inches

Weight – 884 grams / 28.42 ozt

The crest and motto are for Ramsay, Baronets of Balmain, Kincardineshire
