AN ANTIQUE AFSHAR RUG, SOUTH-WEST PERSIA

The ivory field with single large multicoloured flowerring vase at each end flanked by angular floral and leafy sprays. Central blue serrated floral panel surrounded by angular leafy vine. In rust and indigo triple border of angular palmette vine. Outer vine and plain stripes. panel skirt at each end, approx: 6ft.2in. x 5ft.1in.( 188cm. x 155cm.) Very good type and very nicely drawn design, bold appearance, Colours are well balanced. This rug has localized wear to the pile, down to knot collar in places. Selvages original. One end with kilim and short fringes, touches of fraying. Other end with short fringes slightly fraying. In general this rug is in good usable condition. Classic for this type, seldom found in the sales. Very good furnishing piece. Attractive.
