A FINE MALAYIR RUG, WEST PERSIA

The field with overall densely woven stylised herati design. In broad turtle-palemette border between floral and running-dog stripes, approx: 199cm. x 131cm. Classic for this type with well drawn design. This rug has slight wear to the top pile. Charcoal-black is very slightly corroded. Selvages rebound with loss of wool on cord in small places. Ends with short fringes, one with slight loss to the narrow guard stripe. Fine weave, approx: 7 x 7 knots pers sq. cm. In general, this rug is in good usable conditon. Nice example from west Persian weaving.
